Statements by Schenectady Officials on $1.8 Million Restore NY Grant Award

March 26, 2018

Mayor Gary McCarthy

“We thank Governor Cuomo for providing a Restore NY grant to Schenectady.  This funding will help restore four key buildings in our fast growing downtown including the former Ter Bush & Powell building at 144-148 Clinton Street, the former DMV building at 267 State Street, the former Breslaw’s building at 134 State Street and the former Masonic Temple building at 302 State Street. We will use this grant funding to leverage private investment of more than $20 million to continue the growth of jobs and the preservation of buildings in our downtown.”

Metroplex Chair Ray Gillen

“This Restore NY grant award for $1.8 million means that four more buildings in downtown Schenectady will be renovated and reborn.  This would not be possible without the strong support and leadership of Governor Cuomo and Empire State Development. We are grateful to receive this funding that will continue the comeback of downtown Schenectady.”
