(May 31, 2016- SCHENECTADY)- Slidin’ Dirty, the food truck turned highly successful restaurant in Troy, will open a second location this fall in Downtown Schenectady as part of Sequence Development’s rehabilitation of the former Foster Hotel complex.
After two successful years as a food truck where the venture was a finalist for the best in the country, Slidin’ Dirty opened at 9 First Street in Downtown Troy in the fall of 2014. After nearly two years at the Troy location, Tim and Brooke Taney are ready to expand. With views of Proctors Theater from the front door at 512 State Street, the Taney’s believe they’re entering the Electric City at the perfect time.
“When Brooke and I opened our first restaurant our instincts told us that Troy was the right fit,” said Tim Taney. “Troy was experiencing a renaissance that we wanted to be part of, it was becoming a top destination in the area and we felt Slidin’ Dirty was a perfect match. Now our instincts tell us the exact same thing about Schenectady.”
Sequence Development and Slidin’ Dirty partnered together on the first restaurant in Troy and will once again do so in Schenectady. Sequence recently completed its $2.6 million renovation project at 508 State Street in Schenectady. The second phase, a $3.9 million renovation, will kickoff with the fit up of the restaurant.
“Tim and Brooke and the whole aDirty team are the best tenants imaginable,” said Sequence Development President Jeffrey Buell. “They work hard, put out an awesome and consistent product, and make sure that everyone has a great time. We believe they will be hugely successful in Schenectady and add something new to a very dynamic restaurant scene. “
Sequence Development purchased the former Foster Hotel complex from Metroplex in 2015.
Metroplex Chairman Ray Gillen said, “Sequence Development surpassed our best expectations with their renovation of the former Foster Hotel and now we are very pleased to join them in welcoming Slidin’ Dirty to downtown Schenectady. Just a block from Proctors, this great new location will offer the many Capital Region Slidin’ fans the opportunity to slide over to Schenectady.”
Construction will begin soon on the space. Financing for the project is being provided by Capital Bank. Approvals for the space were given several weeks about by the Schenectady Planning Commission, and the first phase of the project was honored just last week by the Schenectady Heritage Foundation.
