Proctors and An American in Paris win big at the Tony Awards®
SCHENECTADY, NY—JUNE 8, 2015—The air was electric Sunday night at the GE Theatre at Proctors as a crowd of over 100 watched An American in Paris win four of its twelve Tony Award® nominations, including Best Choreography for Christopher Wheeldon’s incredible dance sequences.
Proctors annual Tony Awards Screening Party featured a full broadcast of the 69th Annual Tony Awards on the GIANT screen, along with prizes, surprises and French themed food and beverages in honor of AAiP.
Proctors is an above the line producer of An American in Paris. After attending an early look at the piece, Morris gathered a number of local investors under the Proctors banner to fund a stake in the show. “This is an amazing moment for Proctors and our great friends who are so supportive of what we do,” said Morris, a longtime Tony voter. “I knew the moment I first sat at a reading for An American in Paris that it was going to be something very special.”
Along with Best Choreography, An American in Paris also took home top honors for Best Lighting Design of a Musical (Natasha Katz), Best Scenic Design of a Musical (Bob Crowley and 59 Productions) and Best Orchestrations (Christopher Austin, Don Sebesky, Bill Elliott).
