Rivers Casino & Resort to Open Information
Center in Downtown Schenectady
Offices in Center City will serve as point of coordination during construction
of Rivers Casino & Resort at Mohawk Harbor
SCHENECTADY —Rivers Casino & Resort at Mohawk Harbor will be opening a Schenectady office in coming weeks. The office will serve as an important resource and hub of activity during the development and construction of the casino.
The office will be located on the first floor of the Center City building at 433 State Street. While no applications for employment are being accepted at this time, the public will be able to visit the office during established hours to learn more information about the project, or visit www.riverscasinoandresort.com to sign up for project updates.
“Opening an office in downtown Schenectady is a milestone for Rivers Casino as well as an opportunity to immediately become a part of this great community,” said Rush Street Gaming Chief Executive Officer Greg Carlin. “The office is in the perfect location, right in the heart of downtown Schenectady and will allow us to better engage with local residents and businesses.”
“It is with great pleasure that I welcome Rivers Casino & Resort to our downtown,” said Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy. “The past few years have seen incredible growth and prosperity along this business corridor, and I see Rivers Casino & Resort as a great partner in continuing and expanding upon the great progress underway in this city.”
Rivers Casino & Resort at Mohawk Harbor will be a $300 million gaming facility featuring a 50,000-square-foot gaming floor with 1,150 slot machines and 66 gaming tables. A high-end steakhouse, a “marketplace” with lite fare restaurants, an entertainment lounge, a banquet facility and a spa will also part of the project, as will a 150-room hotel and a parking garage, both to be attached to the gaming facility. Public outdoor open spaces and riverfront walking and biking trails will be part of the project.
Rivers Casino & Resort is expected to create approximately 1,200 permanent jobs, in addition to approximately 1,400 construction jobs.
Center City was built and is managed by the Galesi Group, the developer building the $150 million mixed-use Mohawk Harbor waterfront development currently under construction. The mix of residential, retail and commercial space will be complemented by a second 124-room hotel and a 50-slip harbor on the Mohawk River and Erie Canal.
