EMPIRE STATE DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCES AUTOMATED DYNAMICS TO INVEST AND EXPAND IN SCHENECTADY COUNTY

Project will allow increased production and create 20 new jobs

Empire State Development (ESD) today announced that Automated Dynamics, a high-tech manufacturer of composite structures, will expand in New York State with a new, custom-built 30,000 square foot building at the Niskayuna Commerce Park in Schenectady County. The $3.5 million investment will create 20 new manufacturing jobs and retain 30 existing jobs. Automated Dynamics has outgrown its current manufacturing facility on Nott Street in Schenectady and the facility was outdated.  The company considered numerous locations including other states before selecting the Niskayuna Commerce Park for this new investment.

“By choosing New York State, Automated Dynamics will continue to thrive and create new high-tech manufacturing jobs,” said Empire State Development President, CEO & Commissioner Howard Zemsky. “The expansion of Automated Dynamics is another great example of successful business development resulting in job creation in the Capital Region.”

Automated Dynamics has a 30 year track record of providing high strength composite structures to the defense, automotive, industrial, and oil and gas industry, including numerous patents for its lightweight and high strength components.  The company will be leasing the new building space and purchasing new machinery and equipment to accommodate its increased production. Based on growing demand for its products, the company plans to increase employment from 30 to 50 jobs within the next few years.

Robert Langone, President of Automated Dynamics said, “With the support of Governor Cuomo and Empire State Development we are proud to announce our new building and exciting growth plans. We also appreciate the support of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority, the Town of Niskayuna and the Galesi Group. This project gives us the opportunity to continue to grow and service our customers with the best in composite applications for high tech manufacturing.”

To assist Automated Dynamics expand in Schenectady County, ESD will provide $300,000 in performance-based Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits, provided as the company creates new jobs. Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority is also providing a $60,000 grant to support the project.

Anthony Jasenski, Chairman of the Schenectady County Legislature said, “We thank Automated Dynamics for their investment and we are excited that they have chosen to stay in Schenectady County and build a new facility in Niskayuna.  This company could have located these jobs anywhere in the United States, and I must thank Governor Cuomo and Empire State Development for their leadership in helping us get this new manufacturing facility built in our county.”

Joe Landry, Niskayuna Town Supervisor said, “This is just the type of high-tech company we want to attract to the Niskayuna Commerce Park. The Town thanks Governor Cuomo and ESD for working closely with our local economic development team to get this project moving forward.  It will help us attract additional high-tech jobs to our growing business park.”

Ray Gillen, Chair of the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority said, “Once again we extend our thanks to Governor Cuomo and Empire State Development for leadership in helping Automated Dynamics grow their business and invest $3.5 million in Schenectady County.”

The new 30,000 square foot building will be built by the Galesi Group at the company’s Niskayuna Commerce Park. Construction on the new building will begin this summer.  The Niskayuna Commerce Park is home to Unilux Advanced Manufacturing, a new $20 million Army Reserve Center and more than 100 acres of shovel-ready land for growing tech firms.
