Schenectady County Farmers’ Market Adds Third Location

Sheridan Plaza to Host Friday Market

(Schenectady County, NY)  Anthony Jasenski, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature, is proud to announce the opening of a third location of the Schenectady Farmers’ Market for the 2014 season.   The Sheridan Plaza Farmers’ Market, located at 1338 Gerling Street, will run every Friday from 2PM – 6PM, rain or shine, until the end of September.

“Schenectady County is proud to bring locally grown produce and plants to another community in Schenectady County,” said Chair Jasenski.  “The County will continue to support our local farming community every week through the farmers’ markets and I encourage all of our residents to come down to City Hall, St. Luke’s Church, and now Sheridan Plaza and discover all the great things our local growers have to offer.”

The Schenectady Farmers’ Market also operates a market every Thursday morning from 9:00AM until 1:30PM outside City Hall and every Tuesday, beginning in July, at St. Luke’s Church on State Street from 9:00AM until 1:00PM.

The Sheridan Plaza Market offerings for June include produce, flowering baskets, houseplants, and vegetable seedlings for the home gardener. Strawberries, maple syrup, homemade baked goods, and small-batch jams will also be available. As the growing season continues, additional farmers and vendors will bring their products to the market.

The market participates in the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program and shoppers can use EBT, cash, credit and debit cards for their purchases.

The Sheridan Plaza Market is served by CDTA bus routes 351 and 352 with a convenient nearby stop at the Lancaster and Gerling Street intersection. Free parking is readily available at the Plaza.
