CMS to Expand at Schenectady County Business Center

Schenectady, N.Y., September 20, 2013 – Custom Manufacturing Solutions (CMS) will expand its manufacturing and distribution facility at the Schenectady County Business Center at 920 Albany Street in Schenectady.
CMS was founded in 1997. The company supplies parts and supplies to the freight rail industry as well as major transit agencies including the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and New York City Transit. CMS manufactures parts and assemblies and provides parts distribution services to both freight and commuter railroads. The company also supplies parts to the power generation industry.
“Schenectady County is excited that CMS will expand into additional space at the Business Center,” said County Legislator Marty Finn, Chair of the Economic Development Committee of the County Legislature. “The Business Center was created to help small businesses grow by providing space and technical assistance and CMS is one more example of the success of this program. We congratulate them on their growth and look forward to continuing to work with them to keep the momentum going and to further expand their presence in Schenectady County.”

CMS currently occupies 4,596 square feet at the County-owned Business Center. This will increase by 1,000 square feet to handle increased orders. The company also expects to increase employment from 9 full-time and 5 part-time staff by adding two to three full-time employees.
The Business Center is a 25,000 square foot building owned by Schenectady County and operated by Metroplex as part of the County’s unified economic development team. The Business Center is now home to eight companies with 100% of the building leased
