Grant paves way to miSci outdoor classroom in Vale Park
President: ‘The sky’s the limit as far as I’m concerned’

A black chain-link fence separates miSci and its four-acre plot from 40 acres of nature in the heart of Schenectady. But soon that fence will be coming down.
As part of the state’s regional economic development grants unveiled last week, the Schenectady-based Museum of Innovation and Science earned more than $400,000 in funding to build a trail to connect into Vale Park and build an outdoor teaching pavilion. This paves the way to a wave of new programs, camps and field trips focused on environmental and conservation issues.
“This is a big classroom and a laboratory, too,” said Mac Sudduth, miSci’s president, last week. “If you want to learn about environmental quality, the best way to do so is to test the water.”
