Esmeralda Jewelry Finds New Home in Downtown Schenectady
(Schenectady, NY) – The Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation (DSIC) is pleased to announce that Esmeralda Jewelry, which was located at 100 Jay Street, will reopen at 127 Jay Street on the popular Jay Street Marketplace pedestrian walkway.
Benjamin Morales, owner of Esmeralda Jewelry, said, “I am extremely happy to have a found a new home that is so close to my original shop’s location. This storefront will give us wonderful visibility and will be very convenient for our customers.” He added, “I can’t thank the community enough for their support and generosity since the March 6 Jay Street fire. I am thrilled to be able to continue doing business in Downtown Schenectady.”
Esmeralda Jewelry was one of seven affected businesses to benefit from April’s “Taking Care of Business” fundraiser coordinated by the DSIC. The effort raised more than $51,000 in donations from individuals, companies, and organizations, including a $25,000 matching donation from Neil and Jane Golub.
Esmeralda Jewelry also received generous donations of jewelry equipment and display cases from Ray Bleser, owner of Northeastern Fine Jewelry, to assist with establishing their new location.
Renovations to 127 Jay Street will continue over the next several weeks. A June opening is expected.
