SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) is pleased to announce the Electric City Trolley will resume service on Thursday, June 21 and will operate Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The free service starts at 4:00 p.m. and concludes at 1:00 a.m. with a trolley arriving approximately every 20 minutes.
“As the region’s mobility leader, we continually look for ways to expand our services and meet the needs of the communities we serve,” said Georgeanna Nugent, CDTA Board Chairwoman. “The Electric City Trolley is another way CDTA is responding. Along with our community partners, we are able to offer a fun, and convenient way to explore downtown and get around easily. Downtown Schenectady is experiencing a rebirth with new energy, construction, jobs and opportunity. We are pleased to be part of the development and the excitement that is evident throughout the city.”
The Electric City Trolley is a partnership between CDTA and the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority, Rivers Casino & Resort, Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation, the Galesi Group and Discover Schenectady. Schenectady-based software and logistics company, Transfinder’s free application CityFinder, allows users to track trolley location and detailed points of interest.
CDTA is the premier mobility provider in the Capital Region, providing local, express, commuter and bus rapid transit services across its four-county, 2300 square-mile service area. CDTA also operates the regional bike-share program, CDPHP Cycle! CDTA owns and operates the Rensselaer Rail and Saratoga Springs Train Stations. CDTA was named the 2017 Best Mid-Sized Transportation System in North America by the American Public Transportation Association.
